Edito is the missing Markdown Editor, for iPad only.

For those of us who spend most of their time in Markdown, this tool allows to simply type a document using the Markdown syntax, and visualize its HTML equivalent immediately in a web-powered window, without leaving the app. In other words, it does the Markdown to HTML conversion in a breeze, and lets you email the resulting files.

- Create, edit, save Markdown documents in a simple yet functional (and gorgeous) text editor.

- On the go? Edito features a customized keyboard to gain quick access to the Markdown characters.

- Visualize your Markdown documents as they are actually converted to HTML.

- Use the in-app courtesy web browser to import links to your pictures or other webpages.

- Rendering comes with several classic styles through CSS.

- Forgot some elements of Markdown syntax? Shoot to the cheat sheet.

- Email the Mardown and HTML texts directly from the app. Post to your Tumblelog directly using this trick.

Since v1.1:

- added support for accented letters and Unicode symbols

- TextExpander is supported.

Nice, but missing one very important thing

I bought Edito and enjoyed using the app to write a blog post on the go. Those keyboard shortcuts are nifty.

Everything changed when I decided to publish my post. The reason I gave the app 2 stars is because my blogging workflow does not involve email, which seems to be the only way you can export your post. There's not a single place where I can see the html to copy and paste it. Markdownmail has a great feature where you can "Export HTML to clipboard". If Edito gets that, I'll change my rating to 5 stars.

I want to love this app...

But it's hard with the missing features and the one big bug I've found.

I'm a markdown fan, so when I realized there were a few apps for iPad I had to try em. This one won me over with the keyboard extension, which I do love. I also quite like having Text Expander support.

There are, however, some major issues...

First, no support for Dropbox or any similar service, which means no getting files out of the app other than copy/paste.

Next, no way to delete files that I've seen. I'm used to swiping to delete files in lists, but the file list in Edito just sits there, unimpressed with my attempt to remove a test file.

The default background is a bit distracting, but there are some nice alternatives for that.

Most glaringly, this app crashes, losing any unsaved data in it, every single time I rotate my iPad. Orientation lock will save you from this, but this is unacceptable.

Once these issues are resolved, and particularly if Dropbox or other external sync support is added, I'll be a very happy Edito user.
